Remembrance
Ceremonies are about the person who died, not about converting people.
Your
ceremony can avoid religion...
or
it can include aspects of multiple religions and spiritual paths...
or
any combination that feels right to the family or people responsible
for the ceremony.
If
you choose to include a religious or spiritual aspect, you have several
options:
- Leaders
of wisdom traditions can be invited to speak about the deceased person's
life.
- Family
or friends can speak, representing their own beliefs or views.
- Various
spiritual paths and worldviews can be represented with readings or
music.
If
you want a non-religious ceremony it can still include religious or
spiritual readings, music, or items that were meaningful to your loved
one.
- These
elements will be presented so it is clear they are not meant to sermonize
or convert.
Each
ceremony is extremely personalized in order to represent the person
who died and to be comforting to those who gather in that person's memory.
We
will talk over these options at the Family Meeting and I'll take your
decisions into account when I'm writing the tribute and planning the
ceremony.
Ceremony
that welcomes each person present must be led by someone who honestly
respects the religions, spiritual paths, and worldviews of everyone
involved. Please see About Marcella
to learn more about my experience and attitude in this important aspect.
You
can be assured that I have no agenda other than to create the ceremony
you want. Please contact me
to talk over your particular situation, without obligation.
